Safari Zoo
The ZooSafari/Fasanolandia, an area of 140 hectares of green space in the heart of the Selva di Fasano (Fasano Forest), invite you to visit the structure and spend a special day with fun and adventure, discovering the nature’s wonders: almost 2000 animals of more than 200 species in freedom in the luxuriant vegetation of the Apulian Mediterranean scrub.
Attached to the Wildlife Park there is Fasanolandia; the fun area presents a novelty, the “Collina delle Grandi Attrazioni”(Great Attractions Hill) with two new grand structures such as the Rapid River, a reckless water course on rubber dinghies, and the Eurofighter,
a revolutionary big dipper with loop the loop and other special evolutions fit for a real daredevil public. In addiction, there is the pre-existing Ferris Wheel, which allows an ample sight until the Balkan coasts, and the always topical freefall tower called Sputnik, which let you feel the fall thrill according force of gravity at a height of 30 m. Finally we remind you the very new Spinning Madness, a big dipper for families and the 4D cinema.
The Percorso Safari (Safari Course) is a wide area of the Wildlife Park which can be comfortably visited by bus or by car. During the Safari guided tour, school children and groups have the possibility to avail themselves of the park zoological guides experience
with whom they can share the animals’stories and, at the same time, they can satisfy every curiosity about habits and nutrition of various species living in this green oasis.
Placed inside Fasanolandia, the Area of Monkeys and of Little Carnivores with Big Mammals Lake and the Monkeys Village compose the pedestrian Zoological Park. Along this pedestrian course you can observe Monkeys such as gorillas, gibbons, chimpanzees and lemurs together with little carnivores such as racoons and ferrets. At the end of the course we use the Metrozoo, a little train which takes visitors to the Big Mammals Lake and afterwards to the Monkeys Village.
The Metrozoo is the little train on rails with whom visitors, comfortably sitting on the cars, can see leopards, capybaras, crowned cranes, ibises, bucorvus, storks, etc… The Metrozoo makes two stops: Big Mammals Lake and Starting Station.
The Big Mammals Lake is a green oasis which develops around a big water mirror populated by selas, hippos and aquatic turtles. The pedestrian course around the lake is a route which allows the visitor to observe many animals
such as polar bears, brown bears and rhinoceroses.
Taking again the Metrozoo, from the Big Mammals Lake, you see the Monkeys Village from on high. Here passengers can observe more than 300 baboons at liberty, using an appropriate little train on tyres, for an exciting direct contact.
The Tropical Hall lodges invertebrates, fishes, amphibians and reptiles; it is inside a tensostructure of more than 700 square metres,
where there are also the Butterflies Exhibition and the Educational Island.
In the Ornithological Exhibition there are birds which can be directly observed, from the very little Australian Gouldian Finchs to the superb day birds of prey.
For people wishing to enjoy a walk in the nature, we offer the Botanical Course, a course developing through a woodland, typical of the Apulian Mediterranean scrub; a possibility to know the endemic wild essences which are widely described with information panels
placed along the route.
Apulia in Miniature, realized in cooperation with the Accademia delle Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) of Lecce, is a striking and funny educational route through the most significant Apulian historical monuments, reconstructed to scale 1:25 and situated along a route lost in green.
